Little Cottonwood Trail
hikers: Mark & Lecia
distance: about 5 miles, out and back
elevation gain: 842 feet
The Little Cottonwood Trail starts at the bottom of Little Cottonwood Canyon at the temple quarry trail and goes up the canyon. It is a steady incline but never steep. You come to some houses and then to the first bridge. The trail follows the creek and even though the road is always nearby you don't always notice it but this time of year the leaves are gone so it is more visible. If you follow the well worn trail far enough you come to the turnoff to Lisa falls and after another half mile you come to the remains of an old power plant. We turned around just before Lisa Falls. There were some hikers and lots of bikers this time. We missed the beautiful fall foliage but it was still a nice hike although a little chilly because the canyon is shady and doesn't get much direct sun this time of year. You can snowshoe here in the winter.
